   Автобус 199 з аеропорту після 20:30 ходить раз на 40 хв, останній — о 23:10. Ми сідаємо о 22:30, тобто на вихід із аеропорту лишається хвилин сорок. З ручною поклажею встигаємо, з багажем у трюмі — як пощастить, а наступного рейса вже не буде.

   The 199 from the airport runs every 40 minutes after 20:30, and the last one leaves at 23:10. We land at 22:30, which leaves about forty minutes to get out of the airport. Hand luggage makes it; checked bags make it a gamble, and there is nothing after it.

   So the taxi is the plan and the bus is a bonus. The fares are fixed by the city, for up to four people and per car rather than per head: €30 to Porta Nuova, €35 to the centre — Brà, Erbe, Castelvecchio, San Zeno. The night tariff runs from 22:00, so those are the figures that apply.

     A medieval fortress Carlo Scarpa rebuilt into a museum between 1958 and 1964 — one of the most studied works of 20th-century museum architecture. Look at how the paintings are hung, not only at the paintings.

   Collect the car at Porta Nuova at 09:30 and head north — about 180 km, roughly 2 h on the A22. In Siusi around 12:00, and the afternoon is already in the mountains.

   З'їзд Больцано-Норд, далі на Прато-Ізарко і вгору через Ф'є на Сьюзі — останні 20 хв серпантином.

   Exit at Bolzano Nord, then Prato Isarco and up through Fiè to Siusi — the last 20 minutes are switchbacks.

   The boot is rated for two cases, one large and one small. For two people that is exactly enough and nothing spare.

   Пообіддя — на Альпе-ді-Сьюзі. Нижня станція за 2 км від житла, 30 € з людини туди-назад, остання кабіна вниз о 18:00: якщо піднятися о 13:30, лишається добрих чотири години на плато. Жовтневе світло тут низьке й довге, а плоскогір'я не вимагає ніяких зусиль — найкращий спосіб приземлитися після двох годин за кермом.

   The afternoon goes up to the Alpe di Siusi. The valley station is 2 km from the flat, €30 each return, last cabin down at 18:00: up at 13:30 leaves a good four hours on the plateau. October light here is low and long, and the plateau asks nothing of you — the best possible way to land after two hours of driving.

   Light: the "Seiser Alm stroll" — 6 km, 43 m of ascent, graded easy. From Compatsch past the wooden church of St Francis, along the Saltria road, past the Cionstoan boulder and out across the meadows. Flat as a table, and you can turn back at any point.

   Harder: the Bullaccia loop to the Witches' Benches — 8.7 km, 361 m, 3–3.5 h, moderate. It comes out on the rim of the plateau with Val Gardena and Ortisei directly below. Going up at 13:30 fits, but without slack: the last cabin down is 18:00.

   Ідемо через Кол-Райзер. Гондола із Санта-Крістіни — 25 хв їзди від Сьюзі — а далі пішки через пасовища Пієралонджі просто під стіною Оділе до хребта Сечеди. Канатку з Ортізеї не беремо.

   We go up by Col Raiser. The gondola from Santa Cristina — 25 minutes from Siusi — then on foot across the Pieralongia pastures, directly beneath the wall of the Odle, to the Seceda ridge. We are not taking the Ortisei cableway.

   Col Raiser: €34 each return, €68 for the two of us, bought at the station. The Seceda cableway would have been €148 for two — and would have needed a booked slot.

   І головне: бронювати нічого не треба. Від літа 2026 на Сечеду пускають лише за квитком на конкретне півгодинне вікно, без повернення й перенесення, — а тут просто приходиш і їдеш. Погоду вирішуємо вранці, дивлячись у вікно.

   And the point of it: there is nothing to book. From summer 2026 Seceda admits you only on a fixed 30-minute slot bought ahead, neither refundable nor changeable — here you turn up and ride. The weather decision gets made in the morning, out of the window.

   The walk from Col Raiser and back: 9.7 km, 570 m of ascent, about 4 hours, graded moderate. The gondola runs 08:30–17:00, so leaving Siusi at 08:00 leaves plenty of room.

   Gardena Card на три дні коштує 124 € з людини й Альпе-ді-Сьюзі не покриває. За наші два підйоми платимо 64 € з людини поштучно — карта окупилася б лише за чотирьох підйомів поспіль. Тож просто в касі.

   The three-day Gardena Card is €124 a head and does not cover the Alpe di Siusi at all. Our two ascents cost €64 a head bought singly — the card would only repay four separate lift days in a row. So: at the ticket window.

   Запас є: 5 і 6 жовтня обидва в горах. Якщо ранок хмарний — поміняти Сечеду з Альпе-ді-Сьюзі місцями. Це найзалежніший від погоди пункт поїздки — і саме тому Кол-Райзер кращий: заброньоване вікно на Сечеду цю можливість забирає.

   There is slack: the 5th and 6th are both in the mountains. If the morning is cloudy, swap Seceda with the Alpe di Siusi day. This is the most weather-dependent thing in the trip — which is the real argument for Col Raiser, because a booked Seceda slot takes that swap away.

Звідти стоячий вагончик на двох піднімає у Форчелла-дель-Сассолунго, 2 687 м: розколина просто між Сассолунго і Сассопіатто, з «кам'яним містом» унизу. Далі кільце навколо масиву — стежка 525 вниз повз рифуджо Вінченца, потім лісом 526 назад на перевал.

   Up by cable car, down on foot. Through Val Gardena and Plan de Gralba to Passo Sella — 45 km, about 50 minutes. From there a standing two-person cabin lifts you to the Forcella del Sassolungo at 2,687 m: the cleft straight between the Sassolungo and the Sassopiatto, with the "stone city" spread out below. Then the loop around the massif — path 525 down past Rifugio Vicenza, and 526 back through the forest to the pass.

   The lift runs 08:15–17:00 and until 11 October, so we are inside it. Nothing to book.

   Спуск із форчелли — справжня гірська стежка: сипке каміння, круто, 840 м донизу тиснуть на коліна. Палиці не зайві. Північний бік тримає сніг раніше за південний, тож зранку спитати на касі, чи 525 прохідна.

   The descent from the forcella is a real mountain path: loose rock, steep, and 840 m of down is hard on the knees. Poles earn their place. The north side holds snow earlier than the south, so ask at the ticket window whether 525 is clear before going up.

   Підйомники самого Плян-де-Гральба — Піц-Сетур і Парадізо — закриваються 4 жовтня, тож 6-го там уже нічого не працює. Відкрита саме канатка з Пассо-Селла, а це чотири кілометри вище по дорозі.

   Plan de Gralba's own lifts — Piz Seteur and Paradiso — close on 4 October, so by the 6th nothing there is running. The one that is open is the Passo Sella cabin, four kilometres further up the road.

   Легкий варіант: узяти квиток туди-назад за 45 €, піднятися на форчеллу, походити рівним біля рифуджо Демец і спуститися канаткою. Унизу на перевалі — Читта-дей-Сассі, поле велетенських брил під Сассолунго: година тиняння майже без набору. Разом години зо дві.

   Light: buy the €45 return instead, ride up to the forcella, potter about on the level by Rifugio Demetz and ride back down. At the pass below is the Città dei Sassi, the field of giant boulders under the Sassolungo — an hour of wandering with almost no climbing. About two hours in all.

   Пассо-Пордої за десять хвилин далі дорогою: канатка на Сас-Пордої, 2 950 м, 30 € туди-назад — якщо хочеться висоти без ходьби.

   Passo Pordoi is ten minutes further along the road: the Sass Pordoi cable car, 2,950 m, €30 return — if the appetite is for altitude without walking.

   The road to Passo Sella stays open until snow closes it. Check in the morning — and if the pass is shut, Val di Funes remains: the Munkel Weg under the Odle, 50 minutes away and no lift involved.

   Останній день з авто — і єдиний, коли воно возить нас там, куди потяг не ходить. Униз до Ровередо, далі 28 хв до Ріва-дель-Гарда, де скелі падають просто у воду. Потім не по трасі назад, а вздовж східного берега: Торболе, Мальчезіне, Гарда — і аж тоді Верона, авто на Порта-Нуова і потяг до Флоренції.

   The last day with the car — and the only one where it takes us where the train doesn't go. Down to Rovereto, then 28 minutes to Riva del Garda, where the cliffs drop straight into the water. Then back not by motorway but along the eastern shore: Torbole, Malcesine, Garda — and only then Verona, the car at Porta Nuova and the train to Florence.

   The shape of the day: leave Siusi at 09:30, Riva by 11:45. The waterfront, Piazza III Novembre and the Bastione — three minutes by funicular, twenty on foot — and lunch there. South on the SS249 at 14:00: 40 km of tunnels and bends above the water, about 50 minutes. Malcesine at 14:50 for the Scaligero castle and the harbour. Away at 15:30, fuel at Affi 16:55, Porta Nuova 17:25, car handed back by 17:45. The rental is paid to 18:00, the train is at 18:22.

   Пізніший старт з'їдає Мальчезіне: замість двох годин там лишається сорок хвилин — гавань, замок ззовні, і далі. Якщо хочеться Мальчезіне по-справжньому, віддати йому Бастіоне в Ріві, а не навпаки: Бастіоне — це двадцять хвилин угору заради того самого озера, яке потім видно цілу дорогу.

   Italo 8967, 18:22 → 19:54, Prima Business, coach 1, seats 38 and 39. Booked. It is the latest sensible train and the one that makes this day possible: giving up the evening of the 7th costs nothing with three full days behind it.

   The eXtra Magic fare cannot be changed or refunded. Miss it and the ticket is simply gone. That makes 17:45 for the car a deadline rather than a preference: the Alamo desk is inside the station, so the walk to the platform is minutes, but everything upstream of it has to keep to the clock.

   Check-in there closes at 20:00, and the train reaches Santa Maria Novella at 19:54. The 1.1 km on foot is 15 minutes, so we are at the door about 20:10. A taxi makes it 20:05. Both are late, and someone has to be there in person to meet us.

   Тобто написати господарю заздалегідь — обов'язково, а не про всяк випадок: назвати потяг Italo 8967, прихід 19:54, і домовитися на 20:15. Це найважливіше з того, що ще не зроблено.

   So messaging the host in advance is required, not a precaution: name the train — Italo 8967, in at 19:54 — and agree on 20:15. It is the most important thing still outstanding.

   The later start is paid for out of Malcesine: forty minutes there instead of two hours — the harbour, the castle from outside, and on. If you want Malcesine properly, give it the Bastione rather than the other way round: the Bastione is twenty minutes uphill for the same lake you then see all afternoon.

   Авто здається з повним баком. Заправлятися в Аффі або Буссоленго, де SS249 виходить на A22 — за 20 км до міста: там дешевше, ніж у Вероні, і не треба шукати колонку в трафіку. Чек зберегти. «Fai da te» — самообслуговування і дешевше, «servito» — із заправником і дорожче.

   The car goes back full. Fill up at Affi or Bussolengo where the SS249 meets the A22 — 20 km short of the city: cheaper than Verona, and no hunting for a pump in traffic. Keep the receipt. "Fai da te" is self-service and cheaper; "servito" means an attendant and costs more.

   Канатка на Монте-Бальдо з Мальчезіне — окрема двогодинна історія. Сьогодні на неї немає часу; або замість Ріви, або ніяк.

   The Monte Baldo cableway from Malcesine is a two-hour affair of its own. There is no room for it today — it replaces Riva or it waits for another trip.

   The Uffizi has moved to the 9th, so this day belongs to the quarter around the flat. San Marco first, because it shuts early. Then the Accademia, and the afternoon is the Duomo complex, forty metres from our door.

     Домініканський монастир, де Фра Анджеліко розписав кожну келію окремою фрескою — щоб чернець бачив її щодня сам. «Благовіщення» нагорі сходів. Тут же жив і проповідував Савонарола.

     The Dominican convent where Fra Angelico painted a separate fresco inside every cell, meant for one friar to see each day alone. The Annunciation is at the top of the stairs. Savonarola lived and preached here too.

     The David — and the unfinished Prisoners straining out of their blocks in the corridor before it.

   • Собор Санта-Марія-дель-Фйоре безкоштовно Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore free

     Усередину собору — без квитка взагалі, пн–сб 10:15–15:45. По неділях зачинено для туристів. Купол, дзвіниця, баптистерій і музей — то вже інша, платна історія.

     The cathedral itself needs no ticket at all, Mon–Sat 10:15–15:45. Closed to visitors on Sundays. The dome, the campanile, the Baptistery and the museum are the separate, paid story.

     Купол Брунеллескі, дзвіниця Джотто і Баптистерій за одним квитком. Підйом на купол — окремий заброньований слот: 463 сходинки, ліфта немає.

   Сан-Марко зачиняється близько 13:50 у будні — тож або зранку, або ніяк. Джерела розходяться щодо точних годин і вихідних днів, тож перевірити напередодні.

   San Marco closes around 13:50 on weekdays, so it is a morning visit or nothing. Sources disagree on the exact current hours and closing days, so check the night before.

   Академія не входить у PassePartout — на неї потрібен окремий квиток на час. Сан-Марко і Академія за п'ять хвилин одна від одної, тож ранок логічно віддати обом.

   The Accademia is not in the PassePartout — it needs its own timed ticket. San Marco and the Accademia are five minutes apart, so the morning belongs to the pair of them.

   Це все одно забагато на один день. Барджелло й музей Опера-дель-Дуомо — те, чим жертвуємо першим.

   This is still too much for one day. The Bargello and the Opera del Duomo museum are the first things to drop.

     Brunelleschi's last church. The front is bare plaster; the argument is all inside, in the colonnade.

     Схил за палацом, викладений терасами, гротами й кипарисовою алеєю. Входить у той самий квиток, і це єдине у Флоренції, де можна сісти й нічого не роздивлятися.

     The hillside behind the palace, laid out in terraces, grottoes and a cypress avenue. It is on the same ticket, and it is the one thing in Florence where you can sit down and look at nothing in particular.

   День, який подарував пізніший зворотний рейс. Регіональний потяг зі Санта-Марія-Новелла — 1 год, кожні 15–30 хв, 8,50 € фіксованим тарифом і без бронювання: квиток купується того ж ранку. Від вокзалу Піза-Чентрале до П'яцца деї Міраколі 20–25 хв пішки або автобусом LAM Rossa.

   The day the later flight home paid for. The regional train from Santa Maria Novella takes 1 h, runs every 15–30 min and costs €8.50 at a fixed fare with no reservation — you buy it the same morning. From Pisa Centrale it is a 20–25 min walk to Piazza dei Miracoli, or the LAM Rossa bus.

     Друга площа Пізи, за десять хвилин від першої й майже порожня. Вазарі переробив її для Ордену святого Стефана; тепер тут Вища нормальна школа.

     Pisa's other square, ten minutes away and nearly empty. Vasari remade it for the Knights of St Stephen; it now holds the Scuola Normale.

   Виїхати о 8:30, повернутися по обіді — і пів дня у Флоренції ще лишається на те, що не влізло 8-го і 9-го.

   Out at 08:30 and back after lunch leaves half a day in Florence for whatever the 8th and 9th could not fit.

Нижня станція гондоли на Альпе-ді-Сьюзі — у самому Сьюзі: 15 хв, і ти на плато. Дорога нагору вдень закрита для авто, тож 6-те тримається саме на цьому.

The Alpe di Siusi gondola's valley station is in Siusi itself: 15 minutes and you are on the plateau. The road up is closed to cars during the day, so the 6th depends on exactly this.

Виліт о 14:35 означає ранковий потяг і жодних музеїв 11-го. Флоренція фактично закінчується ввечері 10-го — зібратися варто напередодні.

A 14:35 departure means a morning train and no museums on the 11th. Florence effectively ends on the evening of the 10th — pack the night before.

Більшість державних музеїв Італії зачинені в понеділок — серед них Уффіці та Академія. Наші міські дні — субота у Вероні й четвер, п'ятниця та субота у Флоренції, тож усі вільні. Єдиний понеділок поїздки, 5-те, ми проводимо в горах.

Most Italian state museums close on Mondays, the Uffizi and Accademia among them. Our city days are a Saturday in Verona and Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Florence, so they are all clear. The trip's only Monday, the 5th, is spent in the mountains.

На початку жовтня в Доломітах може випасти перший сніг вище 2 000 м, а світловий день коротшає. Сьюзі лежить на 1 000 м, тож саме село сніг застає рідко — а от Сечеда на 2 500 м це інша розмова. У містах лишається м'яко. Пакуватися на обидва варіанти.

Early October in the Dolomites can bring first snow above 2,000 m, and daylight is getting short. Siusi sits at about 1,000 m, so the village itself rarely sees it — Seceda at 2,500 m is another matter. The cities stay mild. Pack for both.

Applies in the Verona and Florence centres. Never drive in. Verona's Porta Nuova sits outside the historic zone, which is why the car is picked up there.
